Nicki Hamilton is our dedicated Careers Advisor and Life Coach, playing a key role in supporting pupils’ aspirations, wellbeing and motivation. She delivers Calm Careers sessions in every class each half term, leading progressive careers education alongside relaxation and self-regulation strategies that help pupils build confidence, resilience and positive future thinking. Through a strategic referral process, staff are able to share specific information about individual barriers to learning, enabling Nicki to provide personalised support. The impact of this targeted intervention is carefully monitored in class, ensuring pupils receive effective, responsive support that enhances both engagement and outcomes.

At Landywood, our Careers Curriculum provides a progressive, whole-school approach to careers education from Reception to Year 6. Its purpose is to raise aspirations, challenge stereotypes and equip pupils with transferable skills that support lifelong learning, confidence and resilience.
Grounded in research showing that career perceptions form at a young age, our curriculum focuses on early intervention to broaden horizons and remove barriers linked to gender, background and limited exposure. Careers learning is values-led rather than job-specific, developing key skills such as curiosity, teamwork, resilience and self-belief.
Pupils engage in half-termly careers lessons, themed activities, visits, workshops and an annual Careers Day, supported by technology and external partners from a wide range of sectors. Careers education is embedded across the wider curriculum through aligned curriculum maps and real-world learning contexts.
We are proud that the Careers Curriculum has been recognised with the Quality in Careers Education Award for its strong planning, consistency and impact. Click here to view our Award Report.
Overall, the curriculum ensures pupils leave primary school as confident, motivated learners with a positive outlook on future opportunities and the skills needed for successful transition to Key Stage 3. Click here to find out more about our Careers Curriculum.
