At Landywood Forest School is available to everyone and our pupils learn a wide variety of new and exciting skills. Every academic year the pupils learn to use a different tool and actively get involved in the management of our forests e.g. through building new paths, fences and even chopping their own fire wood.

We have exciting opportunities to build a variety of shelters, tie a range of different knots and even learn how to participate safely in our camp fire sessions. Pupils gain an understanding of a range of different cooking techniques, including grilling, boiling, roasting, toasting and frying.

At Landywood we also follow the 6 key principles of Forest School, meaning pupils learn in a holistic way, developing their physical, emotional, social, spiritual and basic life skills. Our pupils are actively encouraged to reflect upon their learning and build a connection with nature and develop an understanding of the seasonal changes over time.

We are incredibly lucky at Landywood and have three amazing forest trails for us to enjoy and explore!

  • Forest School is fun, I love how it challenges you to do things you've never done before.

  • I love working as a team with my friends to build dens and a swing.

  • I wish we could have Forest School every day!
