World Book Day

On Thursday 5th March 2026, Landywood once again took part in World Book Day. This exciting annual event celebrated the joy and value of books, stories and reading, and provided a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together and share a love of literature.

To mark the occasion, children – and teachers! – came to school dressed as characters from their favourite stories. From classic book characters to modern favourites, there was a fantastic range of creative costumes that brought stories to life throughout the school.

As part of the celebrations, we also held a story writing competition for pupils in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. The competition encouraged creativity, imagination and a love of storytelling, giving children the opportunity to showcase their ideas and writing skills.

Meanwhile, our Early Years and Reception children enjoyed listening to a range of engaging and imaginative stories. These shared reading experiences helped to spark curiosity, inspire creativity and support the development of a lifelong love of books and reading from an early age.
