E-Safety Day 2018

E-Safety Day (Safer Internet Day) was celebrated not only globally but also in Landywood Primary School on Tuesday 6th February.  The theme for this year was "Create, Connect and Share Respect: A better internet starts with you".  The purpose of this day was to help inspire a conversation about using technology responsibly, respectfully, critically and creatively.

Across school, a range of activities took place to promote safer use of the internet:-

Reception:   children looked at the chicken clicking powerpoint story and learnt how to use the internet safely to retrieve information.

Year 1:   used the book "Smartie the penguin" to write sentences about keeping safe on the internet and made a Superhero internet safety poster, linked to their class text of Supertato.

Year 2:    watched and discussed Buddy the dog's internet safety story and used drama to act this out.

Year 3:  planned an E-Safety presentation based on "Create, Connect and Share Respect" and carried out problem solving investigations in Maths, raising awareness of online safety issues.

Year 4:  took part in an internet safety quiz and wrote and filmed their own scripts based on e-safety.

Year 5:  attended an E-Safety assembly delivered by the police and wrote and filmed their own e-safety scripts.

Year 6:   also attended the E-Safety assembly delivered by the police and took part in drama based on This is your internet.

All children produced E-Safety posters for a whole school competition.

Everyone had an enjoyable day and throughout school conversations took place about using technology responsibly, respectfully, critically and creatively.
